The pet shop opened in 1952 in Fore Street by Andrew Hamilton Muir and his daughter Moira. When Fore Street was demolished the business moved to the corner of Duke Street, and when this area was demolished,The pet shop became the first shop to open in the brand new Foregate shopping mall--that was on October 21. 1973 and has been there ever since.
Eventually Moira married George Thomson and when Andrew Muir retired, the couple took over the running of the shop.
When George retired, his son Andrew Muir Thomson took the reins of this highly successful shop.
In 2009 the pet shop doubled in size when they purchased the premises next door and after a full refurbishment re-oped as one large shop
